What I do.
I am a creative leader with 8 years of professional experience in marketing, design, and product development for user-centered consumer goods and experiences in the San Francisco Bay Area.
At Orbit Baby, a design-driven consumer products company specializing in luxury baby gear, I experienced the company's growth from its infancy startup stage (as their first intern working out of the founder's garage) to becoming a world-class brand with products sold all over the world. As first a product designer and then a marketing manager focused on brand marketing and art direction, I worked with and led multi-disciplinary teams to see products from initial conception to market launch. In doing so, I have built meaningful consumer products, a global brand from the ground up, and an inspiring team of creative individuals.
Most recently, I can be found advising and designing for small businesses and early-stage product development startups, and am currently also an adjunct instructor teaching undergraduate-level courses in design and marketing.
Who I am.
An introvert at heart, I am sometimes mistaken for being an extrovert when obsessing over travel, photography, good food, stationery supplies, geometric shapes, and all matters of design.
I grew up amongst double-decker buses and lofty skyscrapers in the bustling city of Hong Kong. At age 9, an opportunity brought my family to scenic upstate New York, and I rode on a yellow school bus for the first time, watched leaves change colors in the fall, and made friends who spoke different languages from all over the world. In the midst of those awkward middle school years, we returned to Hong Kong. With new friends, I got reacquainted with the city while roaming through its chaotic streets and touristy market stalls that sold haberdashery, endless gadgets, Cantopop star posters, and everything in between. My upbringing have inspired my curiosity in the diversity of people, my passion for the built environment, and my appreciation for the art of making things.
I have an undergraduate degree in Architecture (and a minor in Economics) from Syracuse University and an MFA in Design (a joint program in Art + Engineering) from Stanford University. I now live in a mid-century Eichler home in the San Francisco Bay Area, and will find any excuse to ride ferries in Hong Kong, double-decker buses in London, subways in New York, and bullet trains in Japan. I am often seen with my Sony NEX-7 camera and documenting my journeys near and afar on my photojournal.
